How were these numbers calculated?

We used NYC Open Data’s Motor Vehicle Collisions datasets — Crashes (h9gi-nx95), Persons (f55k-p6yu), and Vehicles (bm4k-52h4) — filtered to Council District 19 and the period 2022-01-01 through 2025-08-31. We counted total crashes, injuries, serious injuries, and deaths; tallied mode (pedestrian, cyclist, motor vehicle occupant); and summarized locations and hours. Data was accessed Aug 31, 2025. You can start from the public datasets [here](https://data.cityofnewyork.us/Public-Safety/Motor-Vehicle-Collisions-Crashes/h9gi-nx95).

Which streets are the most dangerous in this district?

The Cross Island Parkway and the Whitestone Expressway top the list by harm since 2022, with the Cross Island tied to 4 deaths and 403 injuries, and the Whitestone to 2 deaths and 267 injuries, per NYC Open Data’s crash records.
